Blessed Are Those Who Have Regard for the Weak: Responding to COVID-19
Dear Friends,
We heartedly hope and pray everyone is doing well.
Today is Day 3 of our mandated COVID-19 school off-site operation. While it’s been a whirlwind of information and updates, it’s also been eerily silent. As we all sink into the new reality of isolation, we all are asking questions: how long will this last? How long will we have to stay away from others? Will we get sick? Is it really as bad as it seems?
Saturday, One of my seniors emailed and asked me if he is going to be able to graduate.
This young man has been at Restoration Academy for almost his entire education, and he has been looking forward to his graduation for a long time. My heart just sank, and I mourned for my RA seniors and all of the seniors in high school and college.
I assured him that I didn’t know how it would work but we would make sure he graduates. Right now our nation and world is in a season of mourning the loss of what was and are coming to grips with the new realities of this global pandemic. May I ask you to consider this scripture.
Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them - they are counted among the blessed in the land - he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on the sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.
Psalm 41:1-3
Regard for the weak. At Restoration Academy, we are still trying to live this out in the lives our students and families through the lens of our mission statement: advancing the two greatest commandments in the lives of each student (loving the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength).
Strength: Physical Needs of food and medicine for those without.
Mind: Distance Learning to continue the process of learning for our students.
Heart: Counseling through teleconferencing
Soul: Prayer
Over the next few days, we will be sending updates on how you can join us in these initiatives. We've been encouraged by the outpouring of prayer and offers to help during this time. Please bear in mind, we are in this together for the long haul.
We are grateful for your support now and in the future.
